A brief history of the Kooikerhondje. They are a very happy animal! Usually, small spaniel-type breed of dog traditionally used mostly to lure ducks as a working dog. Kooikers were popular in the 17th and 18th century and appeared in the paintings of many impressionists. There is even a famed portrait of the great golfer Bobby Jones and his Kooiker during one of his golf lessons on the range at Augusta National. The breed is rapidly gaining popularity in the United States, Canada, and Scandinavia, where it is still relatively unknown but because of their fantastic temperament they are quickly becoming a favorable type of pet
A very family friendly dog! Originally a hunting dog the Kooiker adapts well to a family setting. They are sensitive dogs that generally have very good health. Keep in mind these are highly generic dogs with a high intensity level that need to have lots of exercise. Thank you to our London Real Estate Agent , Brian Van Bart for finding us a property big enough to let our Kooiker’s roam!
